Old Town San Diego Parking

In the next couple of months, California will be facilitating a feasibility study for Old Town State Park in San Diego. The study relates to the Parking Management Plan and the results of the plan may impact the surrounding neighborhoods including Mission Hills. For example, how would any new paid parking system impact the surrounding residential areas? Would we see an increase in overflow parking? In regards to Mission Hills, my answer is probably not. One major appeal of the Mission Hills Community is the proximity to Old Town. However, the steep topography buffers the neighborhood from a lot of commercial and visitor foot traffic. That said, implementing the paid parking system will certainly impact both the local residents as well as the business in Old Town which now benefit from free parking throughout Old Town. More information on the feasibility study can be provided by the Old Town San Diego Chamber of Commerce or from District 2 Council Member Kevin Faulconer.
