Torrey Pines Golf Course and San Diego Residents

Torrey Pines golf course was the home of the 2008 U.S. Open where Tiger Woods had one of the best tournaments of his career.  The course is a Municipal course owned by the City of San Diego. So what does that mean to those who live amongst the City Limits.  The City of San Diego offers an anual membership for $25.00 per year, that allows you to not only reserve Tee Times up to 7 days in advance with an automated system, but also to play for up to 60% off of retail cost.

For visitors to Torrey Pines, expect to pay $250 per round for weekend play on the infamous South Course.  The North course will run roughly $200 per round, it is slightly shorter , however just as beautiful as the South Course which was home of the U.S. Open.

For Resident card holders the costs are as follows:

The requirements to get a resident card are farely simple, go to any of the 3 Municipal owned golf courses in San Diego.  Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Mission Bay Golf Course in Pacific Beach, or Balboa Golf Course just outside Down Town San Diego near South Park.  If your driver's license says San Deigo as your city you do not need anything else.  If not you must bring a copy of a utility bill with your name and address in San Diego.  Pay your fee, take a picture and you are on your way.

There is a lottery system to book tee times, it takes a few times to get used to the system.  Tee times are released 7 days in advance, and you must call the automated system to book.

The rates do not include the cost of a cart, and although many Golfers choose to walk Torrey, if you have not done so before I would recommend riding a cart until you get into Torrey shape.
